What I Think

Why hire a consultant?

Especially when times are uncertain and the economy is down, making an investment in a full time employee can be daunting. Having to train someone new into a role can take months, sometimes longer, depending on the complexity of the role. Cancelling a project can be straightforward, but unravelling the HR issues that come with layoffs and firings, can open a world of problems that simply aren't needed to give you what you need timely. A consultant should be a highly experienced and educated support with a track record of success and fast integration. By hiring a consultant, you can reduce the onboarding time drastically before value is generated. Additionally, consultants do not require the all-in costs of benefits, taxes, and insurance. Lastly, there is no extraneous onboarding cost for a consultant, as they are expected to bring everything they need to execute.

Why hire an individual over a firm?

Having worked alongside and managed teams from some of the largest consulting firms in the world, I can personally attest that the value they bring to small and mid-sized businesses would be next to nothing. It was difficult to even break even on the return on investment of those firms inside of the $25b+ ARR organization I mainly contracted them through. The sheer layers of management that you have to pay for, to get a team of consultants from a top-10 firm to deliver value, eats up all the return on investment you should be receiving from the individual contributors work. Additionally, when you work with a consulting firm, you are going to be sold your contract and services by an individual who's sole job, is to sell you and hand you off. The person that you speak and work with up front, is rarely if ever the actual person that will be doing the work for you.

Why hire me?

I can outperform the "team consulting" concept. I will beat any written proposal from my competitors by 20%.

With a minimum goal of 300% return on investment for every $1 spent on my services, you can feel secure knowing that if we sign a contract together, I wouldn't even consider it if you weren't going to come out a winner. I have never missed this goal, and I plan to keep my record perfect.

The way I am able to accomplish this is by asking the right questions up front to determine what the best path forward is for your needs. I am absolutely ok with our initial conversation revealing that a consultant is not the best fit to accomplish your goals and pointing you towards a better resource. I have found that kind candor and straight forward discussions up front lead to the best relationships and I would rather be a resource in your network for the right moment, than take a contract before it is needed or can return the proper value to you for the investment.

Lastly, I have been honored by my peers and stakeholders for the last twenty years, for repeatedly pressing the bar higher for what a "best in class" individual contributor can provide. I would love the next success story to be yours. Book a Meeting!
